Carey Bohjanen has operated for the past fifteen years at the interface between finance, business and society, particularly in emerging markets. She delivers business outcomes that are economically viable, gender inclusive, environmentally responsible, and socially relevant.
Carey’s work with the financial sector includes commercial banks, development finance institutions, central banks, private equity funds and insurance providers. Carey has an established track record of driving successful partnerships, teams and projects in over forty-five emerging market and OECD countries. Current projects include her role as co-lead for the DFI Gender Finance Collaborative; developing a gender smart fund in partnership with an established mainstream Africa-focused PE fund; and delivering FutureWomenX global impact accelerators, expeditions and executive coaching to empower female business leaders to become and lead the change needed for a better future.
She is Chief Strategist and partner of FutureWomenX; the founder and managing director of Sustainable Finance Advisory, Ltd.; and a board member of READ Global (supporting female literacy and entrepreneurs in SE Asia and Africa).
Carey has a BA from the University of Michigan; a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School; an international MBA from ESCP-EAP; a certificate of completion from each of the University of Cambridge Programme for Industry on Sustainable Business and the Motivation Management Institute for coaching.
