Principal – Climate Resilience Investments, Banking; EBRD
As Principal – Climate Resilience Investments at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Dr Marta Modelewska leads EBRD’s work on the mainstreaming of climate resilience into investment operations across the EBRD’s region including Central Asia, Turkey and the Southern & Eastern Mediterranean. Marta has a particular interest in climate resilience issues in the water infrastructure, irrigation, agribusiness and mining sectors, as well as in promoting climate resilience through the wider financial sector. She is also actively involved in a number of international climate finance mechanisms such as the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Marta joined EBRD in 2012 having previously worked as JESSICA Funds Officer at the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxembourg. Marta is a fellow member at the Regional Science Association (RSA), the Quantitative and Applied Spatial Economic Research Laboratory (QASER LAB) and the Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network (ELEEP). She completed a Master Degree in Economics at Warsaw School of Economics in 2009 and a PhD in Applied Economics at University College London in 2016.
